Dissemination Activities

I.  In order to ensure the widest dissemination of the 544524-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-PL-TEMPUS-SMHES project results, as a first step, the Dissemination Strategy have been developed.

II. In the course of project performance a leaflet, a poster and a banner reflecting the achievements of the international team in joint implementation of the 544524-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-PL-TEMPUS-SMHES project objectives have developed and published.

 

Representatives of the Polish and Ukrainian universities – QANTUS project partners attended a Metodological Conference on ‘Environmental Conservation in the Natural Sciences’

 

In the context of dissemination activities on the project 544524-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-PL-TEMPUS-SMHES, representatives of the Polish and Ukrainian Universities – QANTUS project partners attended the 24th Polish National Metodological Conference on ‘Environmental Conservation in the Natural Sciences’ at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, on 6-8 September 2016.

Prof. Stefan Ignar from Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW), QANTUS project coordinator, spoke about the role of international projects in development of education in the field of Environmental Conservation, based on experience of SGGW Department of Hydraulic Engineering and the Chemical Faculty of the Jagiellonian University.

Prof. Marek Frankowicz (Jagiellonian University) made a presentation on the importance of environmental skills for university sustainability and implementation of international projects in this field.

Prof. Vadym Zakharchenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Affairs of the National University ‘Odessa Maritime Academy’, National Coordinator of QANTUS Project in Ukraine, spoke about the development and prospects of implementing NQF in Environmental Science and Environmental Conservation in Ukrainian universities (Presentation).

The report dedicated to an overview of the status and prospects of higher professional environmental education in Ukraine was presented by Prof. Sergiy Stepanenko, Rector of Odessa State Environmental University, and Oleg Shabliy, Head of OSENU Foreign Relations Office.

In addition, the Ukrainian delegation held meetings with the Jagiellonian University and the University of Applied Sciences in Tarnów, during which discussed plans for the development of Ukrainian-Polish bilateral relations to further develop joint training programmes, research and institutional cooperation.

Seminar-Helpdesk for teamsimplementors of Tempus IV Projects (Kyiv, Ukraine), 16 November 2016

 

On 16 November 2016, in the framework of the National Week of Erasmus+ Programme in Ukraine, the National Erasmus + Office in Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) in cooperation with the EU Delegation to Ukraine under organizational support of the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy held the Seminar-HelpDesk for Ukrainian teams-implementors of Tempus IV Projects.

During the seminar implementers of the projects received information from Giulia Moro and Ana Ramon, project managers EACEA-Brussels, concerning the preparation of financial reports to be submitted to EACEA with relevant supporting documentation. Participants had the opportunity to share experiences, answer questions on the specifics of the documents, auditing procedures, etc.

The event was attended by National project coordinator of QANTUS Project – Prof. Vadym Zakharchenko (National University “Odessa Maritime Academy”) and Oleg Shabliy (Odessa State Environmental University).

Seminar on Higher Education Capacity Building in Structural Tempus&Erasmus+ Projects: Current Outcomes(Kyiv, Ukraine), 17 November 2016

 

On 17 November 2016 in the framework of the National Week of Erasmus+ Programme in Ukraine, the annual seminar on Higher Education Capacity Building in Structural Tempus&Erasmus+ Projects: Current Outcomes (23 projects, 2010-2019) was held at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The seminar was initiated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and held in collaboration with the National Erasmus + Office in Ukraine, National Team of Higher Education Reform Experts and under the support of the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA, Brussels).

The purpose of the event was presentation of the actual results of higher education capacity building in Structural projects delivered by the representatives of Ukrainian universities to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Executive Agency and the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine and discussion the implementation of the results at national level by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and National Higher Education Reform Experts.

Prof. Vadym Zakharchenko, National Coordinator of QANTUS Project, Member of National Team of Higher Education Reform Experts, attended the event, presented the current results of QANTUS Project and also took part in expert discussion of the results of other structural projects.

The event was also attended by Oleg Shabliy (Odessa State Environmental University).

Dissemination activities run by Odessa State Environmental University

Environmental Digest is developed as a non-profit initiative of Odessa State Environmental University under the project of 544524-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-PL-TEMPUS-SMHES (QANTUS) to provide sustainable development of society and individual through harmonization of mankind – nature relations as well as facilitate learning through the discovery, preservation, synthesis, and dissemination of knowledge on the Environment.

On 12-14 November 2015 the representatives of Odessa State Environmental University participated in 28th International Specialized Exhibition ‘Education and Career – the Student’s Day 2015’ and the Exhibition of Foreign Educational Institutions ‘Education Abroad’. The exhibitions were held at the National Center of Business and Cultural Cooperation ‘Ukrainian House’ (Kyiv, 2 Khreshchatyk Str.).

The event was organized by the ‘Knowledge’ Society of Ukraine and supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine. Today the exhibition is the largest event in Ukraine dedicated to higher education in Ukraine and abroad, and it provides an opportunity for all interested people to familiarize themselves with the proposals in the field of educational services in Ukraine. This year’s exhibition featured 64 universities in Ukraine, 18 international organizations and educational agencies, and 39 foreign educational institutions from France, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovakia etc.

The grand opening of the event was attended by Andrii Hevko, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, who also read greetings from Serhiy Kvit, the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, to the exhibition participants and guests, Vasyl Kremen, the President of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Henryk Litwin, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Poland to Ukraine, representatives of the embassies of France, Turkmenistan, Sudan, Israel, Palestine, and Vasyl Kusherets, the chairman of the ‘Knowledge’ Society of Ukraine.
In addition to individual consultations and personal meetings, the visitors had an opportunity to attend thematic workshops and presentations by representatives of educational corporations, colleges, preparatory programmes and universities.

Participants from OSENU, Oleksandr Salabash and Lidiia Popova, acquainted the visitors with a presentation on the activities and main achievements of the University and the project consortium under the TEMPUS QANTUS project.

OSENU was awarded the Grand Prix for ‘International cooperation in the field of education and science.’

29th International Specialized Exhibition ‘Education and Career – 2016’ was held in Kyiv, at the National Center of Business and Cultural Cooperation ‘Ukrainian House’ (2 Khreschatyk Str.), on 14-16 April 2016, by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine jointly with the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine and the ‘Knowledge’ Society of Ukraine.

Odessa State Environmental University was represented at the exhibition by Oleg Shabliy, Head of the Foreign Relations Department, and Oleksandr Salabash, Secretary of the Department. Among other items at the OSENU showcase the visitors had an opportunity to review the poster, reflecting the main objectives of the project 544524-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-PL-TEMPUS-SMHES ‘Qualifications Framework for Environmental Studies at Ukrainian Universities,’ the consortium composition, the study visits of Ukrainian academic staff to the EU partner universities, as well as the most important achievement of the international staff in joint implementation of the project objectives.

As a result of the exhibition contests in the respective categories, the expert jury awarded OSENU with the Grand Prix for ‘International Cooperation in the Field of Education and Science’ and the honorary title of ‘the Leader of International Activities.’

In addition, OSENU employees developed an information leaflet on the project 544524-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-PL-TEMPUS-SMHES ‘Qualifications Framework for Environmental Studies at Ukrainian Universities’.

On 25-27 October 2016 the staff of Odessa State Environmental University demonstrated achievements under the TEMPUS QANTUS project at the 8th International Forum ‘Innovation in Modern Education’ and the 4th International Exhibition of Foreign Educational Institutions ‘Edu World’, held in Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine jointly with the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine and the ‘Exhibitions World’ company.

‘Innovation in Modern Education’ is the only professional forum of educational, scientific and technical innovations in Ukraine, which widely presents innovative achievements in education. This year, the Forum brought together 86 educational institutions and organizations from Ukraine and 18 educational institutions, agencies and missions from Bulgaria, the UK, Greece, Canada, Poland, Slovenia, the USA and France.

The OSENU exhibition was represented by the staff of Foreign Relations Department – Kateryna Husieva and Lidiia Popova. The visitors were shown presentations, a leaflet and a banner dedicated to the achievement of the QANTUS project consortium.

As a result of the Forum, OSENU was awarded the First Degree Diploma in the category ‘Innovation on intensification of the international cooperation in Education, Science and Culture’ and Diploma for active participation in innovative educational activities. Rector Sergiy M. Stepanenko was awarded the Commendation for implementation of innovative technologies to improve quality of the educational process.

Odessa State Environmental University was presented at the Eighth International Exhibition of “Modern Educational Institutions – 2017″ held on 16-18 March 2017 in Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine jointly with the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine and the ‘Exhibitions World’ company.

The OSENU exhibition was represented by the staff of Foreign Relations Department Oleg Shabliy and Artem Gamaiun. Apart from a stand covering the University activities and career guidance materials, the visitors had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with a leaflet, presentations and a banner reflecting the achievements of the international team in joint implementation of the 544524-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-PL-TEMPUS-SMHES project objectives.

At the grand opening OSENU was awarded the Grand Prix ‘Leader of the International Activity’ (honorary award and diploma), Certificate of the Quality of Scientific Publications and Diploma for active participation in establishment of modern high-quality national education system. Rector Sergiy M. Stepanenko was awarded the Commendation for fruitful work and intensive organizational activity to modernize the national education system.

Odessa State Environmental University was presented at the 31st International Exhibition ‘Education and Career – 2017’, which took place on 6-8 April 2017 in Kyiv, at the ‘Ukrainian House’, the National Center for Business and Cultural Cooperation.

OSENU exposition was presented by Oleg Shabliy, Inna Khomenko and Lidiia Popova, the staff of the Foreign Relations Office. Apart from a stand covering the University activities and career guidance materials, the visitors had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with presentations and a banner reflecting the achievements of international project team in joint implementation of the 544524-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-PL-TEMPUS-SMHES objectives.

By the result of the contest, Odessa State Environmental University was awarded the Grand Prix of ‘International Cooperation in the Field of Education and Science’ and the Honorary Title of ‘Leader of International Activities.’

Dissemination activities run by V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University

 

On 9 October 2014 a Seminar on ‘The European experience in organization of the educational process by the example of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (Austria) and the University of Lleida (Spain)’ was held at the Environmental Faculty.

Nadiia Maksymenko, Assoc. Prof. of the Dept. of Environmental Monitoring and Nature Management, and Kateryna Utkina, Assoc. Prof. of the Dept. of Environmental Safety and Environmental Education (Karazin Kharkiv National University), presented the reports on the experience gained in the TEMPUS QANTUS project.

The seminar was held in the web-conference format that provided an opportunity to unite the interested professionals from leading universities in Ukraine around the issue on organization of the educational process in the field of Environmental Sciences. The seminar was attended by 25 participants representing Poltava National Technical Yuriy Kondratyuk University, Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University, Lesya Ukrainka Eastern European National University (Lutsk), O.M.Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv, H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National  Pedagogical University, Kharkiv National University of Construction and Architecture, Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University.

On 22 April 2014 an Information-and-methodological workshop on the Tempus QANTUS project was held at the Environmental Faculty. The event was attended by lecturers of the Environmental Faculty. At the workshop, in a friendly atmosphere, the attendants had an opportunity to get information on the project, its goals, objectives, planned activities and expected results, hear about results of the First coordination meeting and see the presentation on implementation perspectives of the National Qualifications Framework made by Vadym Zakharchenko, the Ukrainian project coordinator. Later in the course of the project it is planned to organize similar events on a regular basis.

On 25 March 2015 a work meeting on the QANTUS project under the TEMPUS programme was held at the Environmental Faculty of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

The meeting was attended by Sergiy M. Stepanenko, Rector of Odessa State Environmental University, Professor, DSc (Physics and Mathematics), Hanna V. Titenko, Dean of the Environmental Faculty of KNU, Assoc. Prof., PhD (Geography), Alla N. Nekos, acting Head of the Department of Environmental Safety and Environmental Education, Professor, DSc (Geography), and Nadiia V. Maksymenko, acting Head of the Department of Environmental Monitoring and Natural Resources, Assoc. Prof., PhD (Geography).

The following issues were discussed:

  • practical aspects of sectoral qualifications frameworks in the field of Environmental Science, Environmental Control and Sustainable Nature Management
  • practical steps to establish training centers at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and Odessa State Environmental University for training teachers of environmental disciplines in Ukrainian universities
  • analysis of the problem issues on elaboration and implementation of the training courses and syllabi consistent with the qualifications framework in the field of Environmental Control and Sustainable Nature Management
  • coordination of priority issues for the next coordination meeting of the QANTUS project

Conference on Qualifications for the labour market. Sectoral Qualifications Frameworks as new tools for competence management, 23-24 April 2015, Warsaw (Poland)

 

A conference on “Qualifications for the labour market. Sectoral Qualifications Frameworks as new tools for competence management” was held on 23-24 April 2015 in Warsaw.

Participants of TEMPUS QANTUS Project «Qualifications Framework for Environmental Studies at Ukrainian Universities» prof. Vadym Zakharchenko (Odessa National Maritime Academy), prof. Serhiy Stepanenko (Odessa State Environmental University) and Alla Rybalko (Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine) took part in the conference. The report on «QANTUS Project: SQF for the environmental science in the context of development of Qualifications Frameworks in Ukraine» was presented during the conference.

During the conference the Project participants exchanged views and experiences in developing and implementing tools used to match qualifications to labour market needs.

The context of the conference is provided by sectoral qualifications frameworks created for various sectors in countries around the world. Sectoral qualifications frameworks are to contribute to developing more adequate education programmes for the job market, which should increase the transparency and comparability of employees’ qualifications.

Seminar on ‘Higher Education Capacity Building in Structural Measures Tempus Projects: current outcomes’, 20 November 2015, Kyiv (Ukraine)

 

On 20 November 2015 the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, National Erasmus+ office in Ukraine and the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture (EACEA, Brussels) held a seminar-presentation “Higher Education Capacity Building in Structural Measures Tempus Projects: current outcomes” for participants of the EU Program Tempus IV (2010-2016) at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The purpose of the event: to present the current outcomes of Tempus IV projects – Structural Measures for Higher Education Capacity Building by the universities of Ukraine, and to discuss prospects of implementing these outcomes at the national level by support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Tempus Project teams from 23 universities that representing all regions of Ukraine, representatives of the Executive Agency of the EU Education, Audiovisual and Culture (EASEA), Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MESU), National Erasmus+ office Ukraine (NEO), National Team of Higher Education Reform Experts (HERE team) took part in the event.

National Coordinator of the TEMPUS QANTUS Project «Qualifications Frameworks for Environmental Studies at Ukrainian Universities” prof. Vadym Zakharchenko (Odessa National Maritime Academy) took part in the seminar. During the event he made a presentation on the achievements and challenges of the use and implementation of the TEMPUS QANTUS Project.

On the premises of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences

 

  • Agricultural higher education in Poland is celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2016 – “From the Instytut Agronomiczny in Marymont (Institute of Agronomy) to the University of Life Sciences SGGW in Warsaw”. Many scientific and artistic events had been organized to celebrate this bicentennial. The ceremony in the Royal Theatre in the Old Orangery on 22 May has been a culmination of these colorful and rich celebrations and its crucial moment has been a ceremonial presentation of the commemorative medals.
  • Studying under the MSc programme ‘EnvEuro – Environmental Science. Soil, Water & Biodiversity’ started on 23 August 2015. Homepage: www.enveuro.eu. EnvEuro is a two-year European Master Programme in Environmental Science, offered by four leading European universities (University of Copenhagen in Denmark, Hohenheim University in Germany, Swedish University of Agricultural Science in Sweden and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna). The Master is focused on soil, water and biodiversity. It features an introduction to environmental science, six different specialisations (Water Resources, Environmental Impacts, Soil Resources and Land Use, Ecosystems and Biodiversity, Environmental Management, Climate Change), and finally a Masters thesis in environmental science.

 

On the premises of Odessa National Maritime Academy

 

  • In September 2015 the Academy was celebrating the 105th anniversary of Professor Victor G. Sizov. Certainly, there are few people whose overall experience amounted to 84 years. 53 of them Victor G. Sizov gave to Odessa National Maritime Academy. He made a significant contribution to the training of personnel for the maritime industry, education of young scientists, a scientific and technical progress of the marine.
  • On 16 November 2015 Odessa National Maritime Academy was attended by the representatives of NATO Programme DEEP on ‘Improvement of military education’. The main attention was given to the syllabi development and teaching methods in higher military educational institutions.
  • On 24-25 November 2015 at the Faculty of Navy there was a scientific and practical conference on ‘Directions for improvement of cadet training for the Naval Forces of Ukraine. Problematic issues and solutions’, which was attended by representatives of the stakeholders.

  

On the premises of Odessa State Environmental University

 

  • In the period from 16 to 18 June 2015 OSENU held International Conference for Young Scientists on ‘Economic and Environmental Issues of Today in the Research of Young Scientists’, with participation of the representatives of Bangladesh, Belarus, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United States.
  • On 29 – 31 July 2015, the Round Table on ‘Innovative University and Leadership: a Perspective for Development’ was conducted at the University by professors Taras V. Finikov, President of ICF ‘International Foundation for Education Policy Research’ and Robert Suharsky from Warsaw University, Poland.
  • All-Ukrainian Scientific-and-Practical Conference on ‘Natural Resource Potential of the Kuyalnik and Khadzhibey Estuaries and Inter-Estuarine Area: Current State and Prospects for Development’, with participation of the stakeholders, was held at the University on 18-20 November 2015.
  • On 1 – 3 June 2016 an International Conference for Young Scientists on ‘Current State and Environmental Quality of Particular Regions’, with the participation of 8 countries (Ukraine, Latvia, Slovakia, Georgia, Romania, Jordan, Russia, Belarus) was held at OSENU.

  

On the premises of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine

 

  • An Extended Meeting of the Employees’ Association of agricultural HEIs in Ukraine on Agricultural Education was held at the University on 24 November 2015 with participation of Liliia Grynevych, the chairman of the Committee on Education and Science of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Inna Sovsun, the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, and Viacheslav Suprun, Director of the Department for Professional and Technical Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Implementation of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Higher Education’, the draft laws ‘On Education’, ‘On Scientific and Scientific-and-Technical Activity’, ‘On Vocational Education’, as well as challenges and possible consequences of their adoption and other pressing educational issues were discussed.
  • The parliamentary hearings devoted to legal provision of the education reforms in Ukraine were held at the Parliament of Ukraine on 9 December 2015. Stanislav Nikolaienko, Rector of the University, made a speech at the hearings.
  • On 11 December 2015 the University hosted within its walls the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Alexander Nakonechny, President of the Academy and Maksim Strikha, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, vice-president of the Academy, spoke at its extended meeting. Maksim Strikha raised issues on national science and education. He noted that a new Law of Ukraine ‘On scientific and technical activity’, which main ideology is ‘from the scientist through scientific institution to the scientific system’, entered the final straightaway. According to the Deputy Minister, this important legal document will improve the coordination of research activities.

 

On the premises of Lviv National Agrarian University

 

  • On Wednesday, 9 December 2015, the First work meeting of Lviv Student Council representatives with active students of the city on elaboration of quality criteria for higher education in Ukraine. The students of various universities of Lviv were engaged in developing the criteria. Lviv National Agrarian University was presented by the student leaders: Olena Holiyan, Rostyslav Mazurak, Andrii Kritskyi.

 

On the premises of Uman National University of Horticulture

 

  • On 19 November 2015, Serhii Sonko, Head of the Department of Environmental Science and Personal Safety, DSc (Geography), presented a textbook on ‘Environmental Fundamentals of Sustainable Nature Management in the Agricultural Domain’ (edited by Serhii Sonko and Nadiia Maksymenko) at the Academic Council meeting of the Faculty of Horticulture, Ecology and Plant Protection. The textbook was authored by scientific and academic staff of the department: Serhii Sonko, Olga Vasylenko, Oleksandr Dubin, Tetiana Pushkariova, Iryna Sukhanova, Vladyslav Tsyhoda.

  

On the premises of the Institute of Innovative Technologies and Educational Content (the Institute of Educational Content Modernization)

 

  • On 22 December 2015, a press briefing organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Institute of Educational Content Modernization was held at the Ukrainian crisis media center (‘Ukrainian House’). During the event the strategy of ‘a new school’, which is the foundation for education reform chosen by the Government as a major reform in 2016, was presented. The event was attended by Oleg Derevyanko, Deputy Minister of Education and Science – personnel administrator, Nataliia Viatkina, Director of the Institute of Educational Content Modernization, and Mariia Bohuslav, Head of the social project ‘Skills Academy’.
